H.R. 1 Cuts Threaten Millions of Angelenos

Cuts enacted within H.R. 1 are gutting LA County's safety net and threatening to shut down our emergency rooms, local hospitals, community clinics, school-based health centers, and critical public health services. Regardless of health insurance coverage, everyone will feel the consequences unless we do something about it.

  • H.R. 1 cuts will slash LA County's Health Department by $700 million annually

  • 4 hospitals and more than 550 health clinics will be at risk of closure or drastic service reductions

  • Chronic disease prevention and tracking will be severely cut back

  • 1 in 3 county residents depend on Medi-Cal and could lose access to their healthcare

  • More than 5,000 county healthcare workers could lose their jobs

Healthcare clinics, faith leaders, non-profit organizations, unions, elected officials, and thousands of healthcare patients and workers are uniting to support the Essential Services Restoration Act for Los Angeles County.

The Essential Services Restoration Act is a LA County ballot measure asking voters to approve a temporary½ penny sales tax that will generate the critical funding needed to keep our hospitals open, protect life-saving services, and ensure every dollar stays here in Los Angeles County through strict oversight and independent audits.
