St. John’s Community Health is embarking on a journey to build a “community resilience center” in South LA. The new facility will be right next to our Avalon clinic, transforming this location to the Avalon Health Access and Resilience Center. We want to make sure that we are meeting your community’s needs! Join us for our public meeting to learn about the project, ask questions, and let us know what you think will make this facility most valuable.

What is a Community Resilience Center?
A community resilience center, or CRC, is a location that provides a safe space for community members to gather, access resources, and organize during climate and public health emergencies like heatwaves, wildfires, and earthquakes.

What services are offered at a Community Resilience Center?
Our CRC will have physical spaces to protect from the elements, such as cooling areas with shade and misters. Since the location is close to our Avalon Clinic, there is easy access to health and social services. We’ll also offer community education and workforce training on climate and emergency preparedness.
