How Legal Help Supports Health

Legal issues like unsafe housing, lack of immigration documentation, or denial of public benefits can create stress, worsen health conditions, and limit access to care. Our Programs

Veterans Grant Program
– Legal services to eligible Veterans who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
– Email: veterans@sjch.org

Stop the Hate Grant Program
– Supporting victims of hate crimes or incidents.
– Assistance with reporting to the DOJ, accessing resources, and building resilient communities.

CalOES Grant Program
– Legal assistance for undocumented individuals living at or below the 100% Federal Poverty Guidelines who are victims of crime.

RISE Re-entry Services Grant Program / BSCC Board of State and Community Corrections
– Support for individuals reentering the community after release from California state prison in South LA or Compton.
– Assistance with expungements, employment rights, housing issues, family and custody matters, public benefits, debt and financial matters, re-entry legal counseling and advocacy.
