Community Outreach & Advocacy

Bringing Health and Hope Directly to the Community

At St. John’s Community Health, we believe care should meet people where they are. Through our robust outreach efforts, we connect individuals and families to essential services—right in their neighborhoods, workplaces, schools, shelters, and public spaces.

Our outreach teams build trust, reduce barriers, and expand access to care for those who may not walk through a clinic door. Whether it’s a mobile health unit or a neighborhood event, we’re out in the community every day—delivering information, screenings, and support with dignity and compassion.

Health Equity in Action

Our outreach work is rooted in equity, cultural humility, and partnership. By collaborating with schools, faith organizations, shelters, and local leaders, we reach those who are often overlooked—and make healthcare more accessible for everyone.

Partnering for a Just and Healthy Future

Since our inception, St. John’s has played a critical role in establishing a progressive public health agenda in Los Angeles, fighting in solidarity with the community and other organizations to ensure the equitable distribution of healthcare resources. Our community outreach and advocacy services in Los Angeles include working with patients and organizational partners to tear down barriers to health and well-being for ALL. All of St. John’s work is predicated on the belief that health care is a human right.

“I lived in South Central my whole life and just having a voice; that’s what St. John’s does for their patients and for their community.” - Diana

“I started as an undocumented college intern and was placed at SJ. I am really proud to call St. John’s my home because they’ve helped me develop in so many different ways and I am truly grateful for the advocacy work that SJ does and the amount of community engagement and community involvement.”
